Amazon RDS Now Supports Oracle Database
April 23, 2014

Amazon RDS now supports Oracle Database Starting today, you can launch new RDS database instances running Oracle and upgrade existing Oracle database instances with just a few clicks in the AWS Management Console.

To create a new Oracle database instance when using the “Launch DB Instance Wizard” in the AWS Management Console, select the DB Engine Version “″.

To upgrade an existing database instance, use the “Modify” option in the AWS Management Console and select the DB Engine Version “″. Before you upgrade a production database instance, we recommend that you test the upgrade process with a test DB instance to verify how long the upgrade process takes, and that you test your application with the new DB Engine version. We do not recommend upgrading Micro DB Instances, because the upgrade process may run slowly and impact database performance.
